Rider and policeman
Le Mans, Sunday 12 h00
Gwen Giabbani still leads the race on board the n°7 Yamaha Austria Racing Team machine, but looks as if he has slowed his pace down.
And yet, together with his teammates, the policeman is extremely consistent on track, frequently 2nd on the lap time sheet behind the n°111 Team Honda France machine.
Knees far away from the tarmac, he overtakes the backmarkers – some of which are wearing superimposed sliders - with no apparent speed. The reason behind this choice : since the lean angle is less important in the rain, wearing two sliders allows to feel the track earlier and keep a better connection with the ground.
Feeling at ease with his Michelin tyres, Gwen Giabbani has one mission : maintain the n°7 machine in the lead, not so much for the outright win but, more importantly in the mind of team manager Mandy Kainz, for the Endurance World Championship points . These guys are out for the World title, would you believe!

In a very fluid style, Gwen Giabbani is putting in some very fast laps.

Well done Christophe & Bib !
